Prof. Ran Cheng received the IEEE CIS Outstanding Early Career Award

Recently, the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Awards Committee announced the results of the 2025 IEEE CIS Outstanding Early Career Award. Prof. Ran Cheng has been honored with this prestigious award. Established in 2010, this award recognizes exceptional achievements in the field of computational intelligence by young scholars under the age of 40, selecting one recipient annually.

Prof. Cheng has been dedicated to cutting-edge research in computational intelligence, having published over 120 academic papers, with more than 13,000 citations on Google Scholar. His accolades include the IEEE CIS Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award (2019), IEEE TEVC Outstanding Paper Award (2018, 2021), and IEEE CIM Outstanding Paper Award (2020). Additionally, he was named one of China’s Intelligent Computing Technology Innovation Figures (2022), one of the Computing Power China Youth Pioneers (2023), and a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2023). Prof. Cheng founded the IEEE CIS Shenzhen Chapter and served as its inaugural chair.

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) was officially established in 2003 and is a professional society within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), focused on the field of artificial intelligence.
